Auditions

I’m going to start off by saying, it’s fine to be nervous. The only bad thing about being nervous in life is that it may hold you back from something you love. In somebody’s world, a thing that could hold them back could be auditions and today, I’m here to talk about them.

I haven’t gone through bucket loads of auditions, but I have gone through a few, even a video audition. The first thing I learnt is to treat the audition like it is a normal class. Make yourself believe you’re going to a class with new friends, in a new environment, having a new experience. Even if you aren’t successful in getting a role, it’s a great opportunity to get out of your comfort zone and improve your self-confidence. An easy and simple way to make yourself visually confident is smiling. You see, I learnt this the “hard way”, and you probably can sort of guess what I mean by this, but the point is, make yourself exciting to watch and entertain the people who are watching you.

Another important point is to not feel down if you don’t get it the cast or if you didn’t get the role you wanted. There are so many more awesome opportunities waiting for you, and besides that, they probably needed people a certain height, hair colour or some other specific characteristic. The last thing I want to mention is that, if you don’t get in, don’t start kicking up a fuss and comparing yourself to others. Instead look back on what you did on the audition day and see what you could have improved on. Not being successful in getting whatever role you wanted does NOT make you “a bad dancer.”
